Women's Soccer Season Ends With 1-0 Loss To Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Host Marian scored its lone goal in 23' minute to hand the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's soccer team a 1-0 defeat on Thursday night at Smith Field in its final match of the season. The Warriors finished their 2016 season 3-16-0 and 1-9-0 NACC.

  • The Sabres netted the game's lone goal in the 23' minute of the first half on a goal from Alexis Petersen. Melissa McBride assisted on the game-winner.
  • The Warriors had two shots on target in the second half for a chance at the equailzer, but Marian's Alysha Kallas stopped both potential game-tying goals.

  • Megan Henning (Grafton, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) tallied three of the Warriors' seven shots in the game. Four other players had one shot each.
  • Hailey Krause (Wauwatosa, Wis./Pius XI) made five saves in the match for WLC to bring her total to a league-best 133 for the season.
  • Nicole Wojahn paced the Sabres with six shots as MU totaled 19 for the match. Kallas' two second-half saves preserved the shutout for the Sabres.
