Warriors Edge Knights For First Invite Title In 10 Years

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (WLCSports.com) - Hannah Weide (New Berlin, Wis.) posted her top collegiate finish by placing fifth overall to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's cross country team to the team title at the Warrior Invitational Saturday at Greenfield Park. The Warriors edged out Martin Luther by three points to win their first home invitational title since 2008.

  • Top WLC Individual: Hannah Weide, 5th of 92, 25:25.40

  • Weide placed fifth overall with a season-best 6K time of 25:25.40 to claim the top finishing spot for the Warriors.
  • Siobhan Heiss (Beloit, Wis.) recorded her top collegiate finish with a season-best 6K time of 25:59.33 for ninth place, while Becca Heller (South Milwaukee, Wis.) ran her first 6K race of the season in 26:01.25 for a top career placing of 11th overall.
  • Megan Kuether (New Berlin, Wis.) also ran her first 6K of the season for a time of 26:33.79 and 15th overall.
  • Bethany Wagenknecht (Yorba Linda, Calif.) rounded out the Warriors' scoring with a season-best time of 27:05.34, placing 24th.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran placed first of 11 scoring teams with 56 points, beating out Martin Luther for the title by just three points. it was WLC's fourth home invite title and first since 2008.

  • Kim Buskirk of Grace Christian won the 92-runner 6K race with a time of 24:51.60, 0:12 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

  • Wisconsin Lutheran is off next weekend and returns to race Saturday, October 13 at the Private College Championships in Green Lake. The women's 6K race is slated to start at 11:00 a.m. at Tuscumbia Golf Course.
